We will be adding a review page soon for the Kangoo – our aim is to get actual Kangoo Van owners to add their reviews. That way, a potential buyer like you will be able to get real-life feedbackfrom actual owners.

As we don’t have any Kangoo reviews yet I can share what we do know here at Electric Car Experts.

Renault rent the batteries so you will pay a monthly hire cost, what this is depends on the mileage on the car e.g. <7500 miles costs £65 ex VAT and includes breakdown assist. You should call a Renault dealer to get exact pricing and what’s included. This means you don’t have to worry about the battery life but do need to factor in the ongoing cost.

Don’t be put off buying an older electric car as the powertrain is a much simpler construction than a combustion engine and therefore there’s less parts to break and replace!. As with all 2nd hand cars you should check for crash damage, parking dents, tyre wear and check electrical functions like central locking are all in working order.

Range can realistically be as low as 50 or over 100 miles, it depends on a lot of things. Driving on hills, sporty driving, very cold weather, how much you use the AC and Heating. The low 50 is an extreme and you should achieve realistically at least 75 between charges.

Charging on a standard home power supply can take 10-12 hours. If you install a wall box you will get a much faster charge. 80% of electric car charging happens at home so it might be worth investing in one. This could set you back approx. £300-500 but you can get government grant that will help with up to 75% towards this cost. There is also a huge growing network of public chargers around the country and many workplaces have or will consider installing them at the workplace.

If you factor in the battery leasing costs, which means you don’t have to work about having it drop below 75% efficiency or the expense of replacing it, you can save a fortune running it with no more petrol costs. Charging your car overnight on an economy 7 type night tariff will only cost a few pounds! You also have tax savings and congestion charge saving if you live in London.
