Audi Q7 SUV e-tron quattro
Audi’s first foray into the PHEV SUV market is the Audi Q7 SUV e-tron. The SUV combines a 94kw electric motor with its 3.0 diesel V6 and quattro all-wheel drive.
Audi claims the world’s first PHEV with an integrated heat pump. This is an innovative thermal management system that reuses heat generated by the car’s electrical components and pumps it into the cabin. Saving battery power that can be used to drive the electric motors.
Charging times
The Q7 e-tron quattro can be charged in two ways:
- In 2.5 hours, via a home wall box, or at a public charging point with a 7.2 kW, Type 2 socket; or in 4.5 hours with a 3.6 kW, Type 2 socket
- In around 8 hours, using a domestic 3-pin socket and 230v, 16A power supply
Range
The Audi Q7 SUV e-tron has a range of up to 34 miles in all electric mode, enough for short commutes, the school run or shopping. When driven in hybrid mode the diesel and electric engines combine to give a maximum range claimed by Audi of 820.2 miles.
Efficiency
For a car its size Audi claims a combined mpg of up to 156.9 and low CO2 emissions of 48g/km in hybrid drive, and obviously zero emissions in all-electric mode.
